Imagine, my Lennon beat all the odds..

Metro newspaper *13-05-2011* metro.co.uk

Summary:
Mother Paula Rivett taught she barely had any change to get pregnant again. But the opposite has happened because she has given birth to a baby boy called Lennon. Paula already had a child, but she never thought she would get another child because her womb lining was removed to comfort her endometriosis, which is a disease where endometrial cells stick on organs outside the uterus. It also causes heavy and painful periods. Only 1.000 women with this disease get pregnant, but the odds that the baby will survive during the pregnancy is very low. Also the delivery of the child can end fatal. Doctors said about Paula's pregnancy and delivery that she could have bled to death, but both mother and son pulled through and survived the birth. The mother is of course very happy and sees the birth of Lennon as faith and a real miracle.

Opinion:
It is very nice to read how women with a disease of the uterus can give birth to a child, which would normally be very rare. Luckily for this mother she already had a child, but still it can be very depressing when you want a second child but the odds to get pregnant are low. So it is great to read how this woman did get pregnant and that the pregnancy and delivery went so well. The mother heard all the risk about her pregnancy in combination with her disease but still she took the risk. Which is in my eyes very brave of her. It means she will be a great mother because she would give her life only to get pregnant again.

  1. I think it is wonderful to see that miracles do happen, as you can see when you read this article. You say see will be a great mother because she would give her life to get pregnant again, but what about her first child? If she had died because she was pregnant, that child wouldn't have a mother anymore. Not that I want to judge or say that she is bad mother, I just think you should look at this from different directions. In the first sentence of your summary you say mother Paula Rivett taught, but I think you mean thought..

  2. Hi Relinde! When I read the title, I thought it would be about John Lennon's song: Imagine. Very funny and you probably didn't mean to put this link but it goes well with the story. I think it is amazing that miracles like this can happen but I also agree on Liselotte's point. She took the risk of dying and leaving her first son behind, growing up without a mother. I don't think she should've taken that risk, this time is went well but there are so many things that could have gone wrong!
