Summary:
Private schools want to be free. This may be happening because of the government’s free schools policy, in which parents, teachers and other community groups set up their own new schools. Nowadays there are six private schools in line to become a free school. Parents are very happy with this, because now they do not have to pay fees for their children’s education any longer. Although this happiness of parents, critics are concerned for the effect it will have on state schools. Many schools want to expand and teach children with different backgrounds. Schools want to have their own curriculum.
The NUT (National Union of Teachers) is against free schools, because then private schools that turned into free schools, are no longer able to finance themselves without the fees of parents. There is also never been a debate about private schools turning into free schools.

Reaction:
For the children I think it is good that private schools want to become free schools. That way all children have access to the school, so children can go to any school they would like to go. Also the schools will be more diverse when they are free, which is good for the development of children that they grow up and learn how to cooperate with children of any kind. Another good thing about free schools is that parents do not have to pay fees anymore, which will save them money that can be used for other important things.
I do have to say that is better for the society to have a debate about this issue. That way they check people’s opinion and they can check the advantages and disadvantages of turning private schools into free school.

Hi Relinde! I think it is a really good summary of the article. Very clear and good to mention the arguments from both sides. Your reaction is also clear. I like the fact that you mention your own opinion on the subject instead of only a reaction on the whole article. Good job!:)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenRelinde! very good summary, it's clear! I also like your reaction about the article, you have a strong opinion in this and I agree with you, but not on all levels. I do believe it is good for the parents not to pay fees and to use their money on more important stuff but how are the schools going to cope without any money from parents. Very good Blog!
